Wang family visitors

Last night, Clark's uncle and his family popped over for a quick visit and met Natalie for the first time. It was great to see their family again and fun to introduce Natalie to her grand-uncle (san soo) and grand-auntie (sen sen) and her uncles (Clark's little and not-so-little cousins Allen, Andrew, and Alvin). Farewell to Wangs

Yesterday, Uncle Alex and Gramma Wang returned to Toronto. It has been absolutely fantastic having them in Hong Kong to share in and support the arrival of Natalie. We (and Natalie) will miss them! Here are some last minute Wang moments captured with Natalie:

Baby (trying to) talk

Natalie is trying to speak! When we talk to her, she opens and closes her mouth, waves her arms and legs, and makes little sounds. Here she is talking with her daddy. (There's also a great shot of her chubby little legs).

Stretch your arms over your head and you'll see that your arms reach high over your head. Did you ever notice that babies arms are really short? They can barely touch the top of their heads. Hehe, it's cute! Here's a sneak peak at Natalie during a nap and you can see that her little arms are really little!

I'm a girl!

People in Hong Kong love babies. When we go out with Natalie, everyone stops to take a look, guess her age, and make comments. 10 out of 10 people we meet all ask... "Boy?" Even when she's dressed in pink! Poor Natalie. But now as she gets older, we think she is taking on a more "girlie look".

Smiles caught on video!

Finally, after weeks as a quiet, non-reactive yet extremely cute baby lump, Natalie is responding to us! She smiles at our attempts to entertain her and loves listening to us sing songs to her (the alphabet song seems to be her favourite). She also kicks her legs and waves her arms in excitement when we talk and make funny noises at her.

Here we've managed to catch her little grins on video. They're quick (blink and you might miss it) but we finally did it. Enjoy!

Natalie's new "chair"

Tracy bought a "C" pillow to help support Natalie's weight (and save her wrists) while breastfeeding.

And now, we've found another great use for it... Natalie's post-feed chair. We sit her up for a few minutes after each feeding to play with her (she seems really comfy... imagine a giant adult-sized version?) and also to make sure the food goes down and stays down. Natalie loves to bath

2 nights ago, Natalie poo'd BIG TIME in her diaper (it was explosive). Normally, the moms are around and more than happy to do the dirty work, but this time, Natalie picked the time when they were both out for a few hours, so Clark took charge to clean the mess. But even after a quick bum rinse in the sink, we still found poo in her belly button so... bath time!

Bottle by Daddy

After exclusively breastfeeding for 5 weeks (discounting her first 3 days), we tried (for the first time) to give Natalie some expressed milk by bottle tonight. Her Daddy did the honours. She was a little confused at first, but later, she began to get the hang of it. What a little smartie! Here are photos and videos:

Natalie is learning new things every day, including new sounds (we think she's really trying to talk to us!), new motions (better motor control now), and new facial expressions.

Today was another mommies (and babies) meeting in one of the mommy's apartment. The mommies snacked (potluck style), hung out, and chit-chatted. And I think the babies had a great time making friends, too :)

Natalie loves to sleep

Natalie is a little piggy... weighing in at over 9.5 lbs (we weighed her yesterday), all she does is eat, pee, poo and sleep (and occasionally smile and coo at us). Aside from peeing on her mom and grammas when they remove her diaper, sleeping is her next favourite hobby. She sleeps about 20 hours a day! She also loves being held and cuddled by us (and we love cuddling her as well) but could be trouble for us later since she likes to sleep while being held and rocked (uh oh... whoops!) This morning, while chilling on our bed, propped up on a pillow, Natalie smiled a REAL smile! This was not a sleepy smile (babies sometimes practice smiling as they fall asleep), but was definitely a full-on smile in response to Tracy's smile. Wow... totally and utterly heart-melting. Will have to try catching it on video, but in the mean time, here are two more videos of Natalie.

Here is Natalie enjoying her new change-table mobile. She seems to love the music and watching the little animals move up and down. Now she's learned to smile at them and occasionally, she'll even reach her hand out and bat at them.

Here's Natalie enjoying the sun in her birthday suit. Her jaundice levels are still above 100 (from clinic last week) so we gave her about a minute of sun today.

Moon Yuet Dinner

Wow, can hardly believe it's been almost one month since Natalie was born! In celebration of Natalie's "moon yuet", we had a traditional chinese dinner at Choi Wun Heen in Quarry Bay (red eggs included of course!) Was dee-licious :) Here are some photos (below).
